It is for Freedom!

 Galatians 5: 1:

(It is) For freedom Christ has set us free.

Stand firm, therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.

 

Free from the need to worry? Free to trust!

Free from a debilitating fear? Free to live abundantly!

Free from sickness? Free to serve others who are sick!

Free from pain? Free to accompany someone else who is in pain!

 

Free from a need for vindication? Free to trust in Divine Justice!

Free from the desire to retaliate? Free to pray for those who will me harm!

Free from hatred? Free to will and act in accordance with the eternal good of my opposers!

Free from unforgiveness? Free to bless those who curse me!

 

Free from rage? Free to be passionate about something that bears fruit!

Free from guilt? Free to experience even more of God’s love!

Free from ignorance of my sin? Free to start a new way of being!

Free from toxic people and environments? Free to grow in health!

 

Free from a long-carried burden? Free to walk into something new!

Free from a bondage to money? Free to be God’s instrument of financial blessing!

Free from an addiction? Free to fill that gap with God’s Word!

Free from childhood wounds? Free to break the cycle with my children!

 

Free from the need for parental approval? Free to be God’s precious child!

Free from the soreness of rejection? Free to embrace Christ on the cross!

Free from the desires of the flesh? Free to hear and obey the Holy Spirit!

Free from the painful past? Free for the fabulous future!

 

 

There is no end to the things we need freedom from!

No end to the things He will do to help us access that hard-won freedom!

No end to His grace to stand firm, especially after we have fallen!

No end to the potential of the life in the Spirit He has waiting for us!

 

It is indeed for freeeeeeeeeeedom that Christ has set us free!

So, shake off those shackles!

Bind those ropes!

Tear apart those demeaning labels!

Burn the memories of those sins!

Pick up the ashes and make beautiful rangolis out of them!

 

WE are free!

We are truly free!

We are FREEEEEEE!

I had lived 14 years, succeeding at everything I touched in the world. Then one cloudy day, I stood staring at my corrected Physics paper which read ' 4 out of 20' . The teacher was merciful to me: she gave me my paper last so everyone was busy looking at theirs and didn't see my reaction. My brain was scrambling to process this brand new information: for the first time in my life, ever, I had failed. My best friend and my chemistry teacher were the 2 people in my life who held me up at that time and because of their unconditional love, I could bear to face the entire school the next day. TODAY!

On this day, twenty-two years ago, I watched a man die right in front of me.  It was the very first time I had witnessed someone die.  And I was completely shocked at what a precious and beautiful experience it was. Around a year prior to that, I ran an errand for my boyfriend: collecting his father’s reports from an office at the end of one of the many long corridors of that huge hospital. The doctors who handed me the reports were only slightly older than I was and they fumbled as they asked me how I was related to the patient, looking at each other to decide whether they should tell me what the reports said. I convinced them I was a family member and they should tell me. But by then I had already read what was written all over their faces. My boyfriend’s father was dying.
